The Attorney General (AG) indicted three former LTTE members at the Vavuniya High Court over the killing of 26 Sri Lanka Army and Navy personnel who were kept as prisoners during the last phase of the war.
The accused Irasathurai Thiruwarul, Madiarasan Sulakshan and Ganeshan Darshan were indicted under Sections 2(1)(a) – ‘Causing the death of persons’; 2(2)(1) - and 3(b) of the Prevention of Terrorism Act and Sections 113(b) – ‘Conspiracy’ and 102 – ‘Abetment’ of the penal code.
The prosecution alleged that the accused, together with other persons unknown to the prosecution, had killed and set fire to 18 Navy and 8 Army officers during the last phase of the war on January 16, 2009 at a camp in Wallipuram where the LTTE secretly detained prisoners of war.
The trial of the case will commence tomorrow before Vavuniya High Court Judge Ramanathan Kannan. (Shehan Chamika Silva)

This case should be brought to international attention to expose the truth behind the LTTE. Let's hope justice is served for our brave forces who were killed and burned!

Even more reason why our forces need to be omnipresent in the east and north. LTTE should never be allowed to surface again!
