United National Party (UNP) General Secretary Akila Viraj Kariyawasam said today certain groups had launched an organised campaign to show there was a crisis within the UNP and its allies with regard to the selection of the presidential candidate.

“The UNP will contest the presidential election under a broad alliance. An agreement has been reached on forming the alliance. According to that agreement a suitable candidate will be nominated by the UNP,” he said.

“I like to emphasise that the candidate will be selected according to the party constitution while safeguarding democratic norms and traditions and with the backing of the entire party and our allies, individuals and organisations who agree with our policies and principles to ensure victory for the selected candidate.” (Yohan Perera)

The public are sick of listening to these words like not today but tomorrow and not tomorrows but next week. Remember by doing this kind of game you are loosing the support of other parties as they are sick and tired of this game.

PM is so greedy that he want to hang on to power. The fact of the matter is that he has so much bad baggage from past, ranging from Looting of Central Bank to Returning of Terrorism, if he is the UNP nominee, it will be a sure win for Gotabhaya!
