Leader of Opposition Sajith Premadasa will reveal his future political stand to UNPers and UNF allies on Sunday January 26, UNP MP Ajith P. Perera said yesterday.

MP Perera said Mr. Premadasa had already invited leaders of UNF, all MPs, Provincial Councillors, members of local bodies and party organisers for meeting at Sri Lanka Exhibition and Convention Centre where he will reveal his future political stand. Mr. Perera said Mr. Premadasa will also officially thank all those who worked for him at the last presidential election. “Mr. Premadasa had called this meeting as the Leader of Opposition and as the UNF candidate at the last presidential election. He had also informed UNP General Secretary as well,” he said responding to a question raised by journalists as to whether he had sought party’s permission to hold the meeting.

He said the leadership crisis in the UNP will be resolved soon but did not give a time frame as to when it will be sorted out. “Mr. Premadasa will get his due position as people and the voters have asked that he be appointed as the new leader of UNP and UNF,” the MP added. Also, he said Mr. Premadasa will be the Prime Ministerial candidate of UNF at the next general election. “We are confident that Mr. Premadasa will be elected as the new MP at the next general election as Gotabaya - Premadasa combination would be good for the country,” he also said.

Asked how Wickremesinghe - Sirisena combination became a failure if he thinks a President and a Prime Minister from different parties could work together, the MP said previous Sirisena and Wickremesinghe administration failed because of weaknesses of individuals. Meanwhile, it was also reported that new working committee of the UNP will be formed on Monday January 27. Other informed sources said Mr. Premadasa will be reappointed as the Deputy Leader of UNP on that day. (Yohan Perera and Ajith Siriwardana)

We all know Ranils Porthugese leadership. God safe Sri-Lanka. SL will have a sounding majority for SLPP.

Sajith and his followers have been a curse to UNP. Sajith’s only qualification is based on his father’s fame. Because of Ranil’s well thought out leadership, UNP has survived under difficult circumstances. Forcing him out will be the end to UNP.
