Former General Secretary of the United National Party, Tissa Attanayake has taken the responsibility of arranging a meeting between UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe, Sajith Premadasa and Karu Jayasuriya.
He said that he accepted the responsibility during his meeting with Ranil Wickremesinghe.
He said that he took over the responsibility of arranging a meeting between the three and thereby creating an opportunity for them to arrive at a final decision over the leadership issue.
Ranil Wickremesinghe had said that even though he was willing to attend this meeting, Sajith Premadasa would not come for a vis-à-vis meeting with him, Attanayake said.
Mr Wickremesinghe had also said that this was not the best time for the party to be divided into factions.
Wickremesinghe also said that the best thing to do was to find a solution to the leadership issue after the General Elections, added Tissa Attanayake.
"Ranil Wickremesinghe also said that this meeting should be the final opportunity to arrive at a decision and it should not be postponed furthermore. He also said that Karu Jayasuriya, whom he met subsequent to his meeting with Ranil Wickremesinghe, had also agreed for a meeting".
"A discussion would be held with Sajith Premadasa in the near future and a date would be fixed immediately for the three individuals to convene and arrive at a final decision," he said. (Dayaseeli Liyanage

What a shame. Tissa was a man who forged the documents in 2015 and eliminated from UNP. Now he has become a mediator

last chance?? your last chance was in 2005. Still clinging on to power. Shamless man. Why don't you content the election without sajith and see what happens.

Ranil, WHEN and what will take to give up UNP leadership!!??? Huh!!
Samson Monday, 27 January 2020 09:56 AM
Ranil leading the party at the general election will see the UNP winning about 15 seats with the split group getting more seats than the JVP and TNA. Split group will have the leader of opposition.

This is the best time for a new party. With the bond scam and the forensic audit is public domain, Sajith needs to come with a clean sheet. This will be the recipe for victory in future elections. Ranil is a dud coin now.

Sajith has enough support to go it alone without these 3 'stoogers' - Ranil, Karu and this forger of signatures, Tissa trying to put a spoke into Sajith's plans. Just ignore these washed out 'pappas.

Let this idiot, Ranil remain as the leader of UNP and go for the general election. When he gets defeated right royally, he will learn how unpopular he is.
Hettige Monday, 27 January 2020 04:11 PM
Ranil cannot step down from the UNP leadership as he has a deal to make UNP to fare badly in the Elections and help SLPP to get 2/3rd majority as reward for sweeping the Bond Case under the carpet.

Dear citizens begin a campaign 'don't vote Ranil' let the whole of Colombo join in. We the citizens come together to give him a right royal send-off.

UNP will lose the up coming General election if Ranil is the leader. Ranil has a deal with the Rajapakses. Ranil doesn,t care about the country which is very shame. I was a UNP supporter from 1975 and after 45 years I started hating the same UNP. Ranil, you will rot in hell.
