The Kiriella Divisional Secretary has been arrested by the Children and Women's Bureau for sexually harassing a female officer attached to the Kiriella Divisional Secretariat, police said.
Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said the regional Child Protection Officer of the National Child Protection Authority (NCPA) has lodged a complaint with the Kiriella Police on January 15 that she was sexually harassed by the Divisional Secretary.
Accordingly, the Divisional Child and Women's Bureau conducted an investigation under the instruction of SSP Ratnapura and arrested the suspect yesterday.
The suspect was produced before the Ratnapura Magistrate and granted a Rs.200,000 surety bail.
The case will be taken up on May 11, 2021.
