Late President J.R. Jayewardene’s assuredness that his Constitution was everlasting and could not be changed, had been proven false by the ‘Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Mahinda Rajapaksa’ harmony, Education Minister Professor G.L. Pieris said.

While assuming duties as the new Education Minister at the Ministry, Professor Pieris said, the late President Jayewardene had declared that no one could change his Constitution as long as the sun and the moon existed.

“JR’s assuredness was wrong. Our government obtained a two-thirds majority. No one can make laws that could not be changed and exist forever” he reiterated. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)

What right GL got to talk about the constitution? GL opposed the same constitution which he peddled when he jumped from one party to another. Further GL's subject is education not to do anything with the Constitution.

India has the same constitution from 1947 with a few amendments, but we are going to have the fourth constitution from 1948.

Yes, Professor, the Europeans who colonised our nation also thought they wouldn’t need to leave. So the CHANGE is the one never changes.
