A 63-year-old female fish vendor, who has been engaged in selling fish at Sathi Pola in Karagampitiya, Dehiwala has tested positive for Covid-19, the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) said.
It said those who bought fish from her were advised to seek medical advice. She has also visited a private dental clinic in Dehiwala.
She is a resident of Red Cross Housing Scheme in Sandungama, Kadawala Road in Rathmalana and was admitted to the Kalubowila Base Hospital for fever and coughing where she has tested positive for Covid-19.
Subsequently, 34 people from 10 apartments of the housing scheme, have been put under self-quarantine and 22 people of four families with whom she has had close contact had been taken to a quarantine centre in Madampe.
The manner in which she has contracted the virus has not been traced yet.
