The Chinese Government will construct 2000 free houses for the benefit of low-income families in Colombo upon a request made by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and Speaker Karu Jayasuriya, a minister said yesterday.
Megapolis and Western Development Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka told the Daily Mirror that the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for this project would be signed tomorrow (9).
He said the Urban Development Authority (UDA) would allocate lands for the construction of these houses. “The UDA will also handle the consultancy services for the construction of these houses, each costing Rs. 5 million”, before adding that 100 houses would be built for the benefit of artists..(Kelum Bandara)

Nothing comes free... get ready to support them on international issues even incorrectly... and we talk about sovereignty of the nation. Bull shit.

Great gesture by Chinese if the houses are built free. The politicians in power at the time of completion will give the unit to supporters. How Weerawansa gave houses comes to my mind

How can these slums are still grabbing the lands along the railway lines ,Colombo 2-3 etc.. They must be removed............. and use those land for productive purposes benefiting the country .Many were given flats by previous gvt yet they returned to the same places overnight thanks to the politicians! .Now again Chinese loan for the same!!
