At least 39 alleged street racers were arrested along with 27 motorcycles for unauthorized racing along the Piliyandala-Kesbewa bypass road last night.
Police said the suspects were arrested following a complaint received to the 119 police emergency.
It was reported the unauthorized motorcycle race was organized through Facebook.
The arrested suspects would be produced before the Kesbewa Magistrate today.

This street racing is really a menace and a severe nuisance to other motorists as well. There was an incident when I was driving one night with my pregnant wife when a couple of motorbikes passed us at reckless speeds that made my wife panic and get afraid because those motorbikes almost hit my car.
