It said heavy rains were also likely in some areas in the Colombo, Gampaha, Puttalam, Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Hambanthota and Mannar districts while rains of more than 75 mm could be expected at some places in the Uva provinces and in the Kurunegala and Matale districts.

The Met Department said winds of up to 60 kmph were also likely over the country, particularly in the western slope of the central hills and the Northern, North-Central and Uva provinces and in the Puttalam, Ampara and Batticaloa districts. (Sheain Fernandopulle)
