State Minister Sujeewa Senasinghe wrote to UNP General Secretary Akila Viraj Kariyawasam to clear the matters with regard to certain members of the party who had met President Maithripala Sirisena on abolishing the executive presidency.
Mr. Senasinghe in his letter requested the UNP General Secretary to state whether the group concerned conferred with the President with party’s approval. “Disciplinary action has to be taken against those who conferred with the President if they had done so without party’s approval,” he said in his letter.
