Accordingly, the nearest areas over which the sun is overhead today, are Dickwella, Kekanadura, Kotawila and Midigama around12: 12 pm.
Meanwhile, the Meteorology Department issued a weather advisory for today, asking people in eight districts to be extremely cautious of the hot weather.
The districts are Mannar, Mullaitivu, Vavuniya, Puttalam, Kurunegala, Gampaha, Hambantota and Monaragala.
The department warned that those living in these areas should avoid venturing outside too much in the next few days, particularly in the morning hours since exposure to such excessive hot weather could cause heat strokes, cramps and heat exhaustion. Several areas including Trincomalee, Anuradhapura, Galle and Matara would also experience hot weather and residents were warned to take extra precautions when they are out in the open in these areas.
