Four suspects have been arrested with 225.9Kgs of heroin during a raid at Mahabage in Ragama by the Police Narcotic Bureau (PNB).
Police said the raid was conducted following a tip off. A luxury car and a cab were also taken into custody along with the suspects. Police said the seized stocks of heroin had been loaded into the cab and the car for transportation after packing 1kg of narcotics inside 10kg packs of rice.
The arrested suspects, aged between 24 and 55, were identified as residents of Welisara and Homagama. The Police said the suspects would be produced in the Colombo Magistrate’s Court.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the narcotics are reported to have been owned by the underworld figure ‘Kosgoda Tharaka’.
