Public were yesterday advised to be vigilant by the authorities, when using beaches from Wellawatte to Mount Lavinia because of black oil residue that has been washed ashore.
Marine Environment Protection Authority said that black oil residue might have been deposited in the sea due to discharge of oil
from ships.
Due to this, both local and foreign tourists who come to the beach have been severely inconvenienced.
