Recognising its unstinted contribution towards the Sri Lankan export economy, MAS Intimates was awarded four Export Awards at the 21st Presidential Export Awards (PEA) ceremony held recently, under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena.

MAS Intimates won special awards for Sri Lankan Exporter of the Year, Highest Employment Provider of the Year in the Export Industry, Highest Net Foreign Exchange Earner and Best Exporter in the Apparel Sector for the year 2011.

The gala event was organised by the Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB) to recognise the export performances from 2010-2013.

The selection criterion was based on the company contributions made towards the country’s overall export earnings, product development, market development and social development. The award recipients were selected by a panel comprising private and public sector representatives chaired by retired Supreme Court Judge Hector Yapa.

The PEA was introduced by the Sri Lanka Export Development Board (SLEDB) in 1981 to recognise the contributions made by the export community towards national development.  The award winners represent excellence in export business, particularly in non-traditional products and services.

Having achieved unparalleled excellence as a global apparel and textile manufacturer, MAS has diversified into fashion and lifestyle sectors, managing a portfolio of businesses in IT, brands and industrial parks. It has grown to be a global entity with its presence in 15 countries, 72,000 workforce and a consolidated annual turnover of approximately US $ 1.2 billion. MAS believes that innovation is the path that will help leverage its core competencies and grow in its business sectors.

“The drive to innovate at MAS is steered by our promise to always be a valued partner to our customers by differentiating ourselves from the competition. We also seek to innovate in order to sustain ourselves and grow profitably,” added MAS Chairman Deshamanya Mahesh Amalean.

The company manages the entire value chain – from product design, development, manufacturing and raw-material supply – whilst commanding the latest technology and knowhow. With in-house research, design, development and product-engineering capabilities, MAS provides sophisticated concept-to-delivery solutions to its customers.

MAS also differentiates itself through its best practices to position Sri Lanka as the preferred destination for ethical apparel solutions.
