These politicians dont care for the voters who elected them to power. It is patently obvious what motivated them to cross over, judging by the behaviour of one MP who took part in the satyagrha and told another UNP colleague that the former was going to the washroom; but actually was heading somewhere to convey that person's decision.

These people are crossing over for personal gains. For example, the environmental ministry was about to stop the construction of a hotel owned by one of them. The government has applied pressure on another by causing problems to the business run by the particular MP's spouse. I am sure all these problems will now be solved. Remember, earlier also there were cross overs for similar benefits (Radio station license etc.)
