Ugly scene at UNP group meeting

An ugly scene occurred at the United National Party (UNP) parliamentary group meeting this morning following a heated argument between Party Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe and UNP Kalutara District MP Palitha Tevarapperuma.

Sources said Mr. Wickremesinghe had retorted strongly when Mr. Tevarapurma faulted him for including a certain candidate in the party’s nominations list for the provincial council elections from the Kalutara District.

According to an eye witness, Mr. Teverapperuma had moved towards Mr. Wickremesinghe in a threatening manner soon after the meeting was over but had been prevented from approaching him by MP Ranjan Ramanayake, Chief Opposition Whip John Amaratunga and Mr. Wickremesinghe’s security officers.

Daily Mirror learns that some MPs had urged that a disciplinary inquiry be held against Mr. Tevarapurma. (Yohan Perera)

Bottom line is since '94 UNP is in a total mess because of power hungry butchers, drug lords, private bus mafia, 3 wheel thugs & tyre pyre murderors groomed & let out to ruin this country during their in famous mis-rule, darkest history of SL between '77 - '94 with the dictatorship rule they forced down on the people with their 5/6th majority in JRJ's pocket.

Behavior of this MP is irrational, only few weeks back he tied himself by a chain to a lorry and carried on a sathyagraya. Parliament doctor must verify his psychiatric state.

they talk to unite the whole opposition to defeat MR but to see there is no unity in the United National Party. I learnt that Ravi had fallen out with LC and resigned from Nomination board. this is the beginning of the end of UNP
