Two school girls, both sisters, were arrested by the Piliyandala police for pick-pocketing from passengers on board public buses. The police recovered over 30 wallets from the two girls.
The two sisters, students of grade nine and twelve of a school in the area, pick-pocketed on board crowded buses. The suspects while traveling in buses used to target standing passengers by offering to hold onto their belongings and subsequently lifted their wallets.
Police investigations had revealed that the two girls had even stolen the wallet of a female police constable from the Pilyandala police a month ago.
The police said the two sisters had been living away from their parents have invested the stolen money to purchase perfumes and clothes. The suspects were to be produced before court today.
