    suwimal Monday, 27 September 2010 05:25 AM

Seems a case of "above the law". The king is above the law. Kings henchmen, therefore, are above the law as long as they have king's blessing.

Without fearing that you will get hammered put your chest forward and act with vigour and vitality! Definitely, you should have the backing of the Secretary Defence in this connection!!! Go ahead.

    D.P.Liyanage Monday, 27 September 2010 03:07 AM

No laws practice for politicians in Sri Lanka. To whom may we blame

Smart Aleck Monday, 27 September 2010 05:42 AM

At the end of the list will be the MPs themselves. When the citizens reach that point Sri Lanka will be a better place.

    chami Monday, 27 September 2010 02:54 AM

No wonder the cops do their masters' bidding even if its unlawful. They are more scared of ministerial thugs than the underworld kind. Now if Rajapakse will punish these thugs he will be more popular with all and sundry. But even that little is asking for the moon.More to come folks, more to come!

    Katussa Monday, 27 September 2010 01:51 AM

    Katussa Monday, 27 September 2010 06:38 AM

The IGP is probably in hiding, too scared to face the public outcry over this. The public is truly with this cop this time because he was doing his duty.

    citizen1 Monday, 27 September 2010 06:47 AM

They are deaf and blind...you will haveto wait forever.

    naz Sunday, 26 September 2010 03:49 PM

Lets wait and see what the Mahinda supporters have got to say...

    Wasantha Sunday, 26 September 2010 03:52 PM

A lawless Country. Unlike Samurdhi Officers did, against Dr, they cannot make a collective protest against the licensed thug (MP). Definitely, victim should be forced to settle the matter and see what would happen. And most probably verdict would be the respective policeman is guilty. We cannot expect "Justice" in a banana republic.

matara kolla Sunday, 26 September 2010 03:53 PM

Deplorable incident. MP should be fully accountable and if guilty should lose his seat for this criminal act.

    TP Sunday, 26 September 2010 04:11 PM

We asked for it so bear it up

Calistus Jayatilleke Sunday, 26 September 2010 04:16 PM

Gang rule of the hooligans under the 18th amendment to make Sri Lanka the Debacle of Asia!

    podimalli Sunday, 26 September 2010 04:32 PM

    Jayntha Sunday, 26 September 2010 04:54 PM

Well done the Politician. We need more of your type. We are having a ball of a time in Kangaroo Justice. This country has two set sof laws. One for us and one for them. Suba Anagathayak WEVA.

    Lal Sunday, 26 September 2010 05:00 PM

This way, the IGP will get hammered too if he does not toe the line. He knows that.

    sanjeeva Sunday, 26 September 2010 05:02 PM

who is this idiot? will he be declared doing nothing wrong by a UPFA disciplinary commission?

    Ranjan Sunday, 26 September 2010 02:28 PM

Dem-o-carzy as per Mahinda Chintana. This is the real freedom to expect after the 18th amendment.

    rosh Sunday, 26 September 2010 06:33 PM

The rider should have mentiond about his connection to a Sri Lankan MP, so the Ralahami would probably understand that no need of a helmet as they dont have any HEADS to safeguard

    Hash Sunday, 26 September 2010 06:35 PM

    so much for the democracy

    Elaris Sunday, 26 September 2010 07:12 PM

Please appoint MR chintanaya type commision and after few sittings exonerate the culprit, follwed by a transfer the sergent to Vanni. Long life to demo-crazy of Siri Lanka.

    Elaris Sunday, 26 September 2010 07:14 PM

Stupid Sergent... He should know Sri Lanka is all about connections...

    harry Sunday, 26 September 2010 08:46 PM

IGP please show your authority and compassion towards this poor policeman and take the matter up with the higher authoriies so that justice is served. This is a challenge for you IGP. Knowing your actions in the past I very much doubt that you will fight for this poor policeman.

    raymond Sunday, 26 September 2010 09:15 PM

Dutugemunu was not involved, it appears.

    kumara Sunday, 26 September 2010 09:40 PM

The police should walk-out for 3 hours every day and perform a peaceful satyagraha. They should protest as they did when "doctor" tied an employee to a tree.

    Mervin Sunday, 26 September 2010 09:41 PM

At first it was the media, then the Asst Commissioner of Inland Revenue, the Samurdhi Officer, now its a police officer..the list would obviously gain length with time, unless MR and the team learn to act swiftly and effectively.

    Wijebahu Sunday, 26 September 2010 09:56 PM

Culprits will go home without any charges because all of them are Kings men. Sril lankan police is very much used to get a beeting from them. what happened to the men who assualted a DIG in Weerawansa's bogus hunger strike? nothing, not even charges were laid.

    John Sunday, 26 September 2010 11:22 PM

There are many stories like this. DM or some media should keep the pressure up and follow it until justice is delivered or not. This will do some good for the country instead of just reporting the bad stuff and people not knowing what the final outcome is.

    kalpage Sunday, 26 September 2010 11:24 PM

Honest man gets beaten dishonest thugs get rich and this is a Socilist Democratic country where are honest leaders , why don't religious leaders speak up ?

    "Jayawewa'

    John Monday, 27 September 2010 12:21 AM

There should be a special investigation unit unswerable only to the IGP/president and citizens commitees which have maximmum protection just to deal with political thuggery. There should be zero tolerance for political thugs and their affiliates who harass or defraud ordinary law abiding citizens.
