    is it unanimous decision ?

    sarath Thursday, 26 September 2013 06:25 AM

this is a land mark judgment to clear doubts. I am not worried of Jaffna but I am worried of our local provincial councils. If land powers are given to PC's all the lands will be sold in one year in all parts of SL.

    tarun Thursday, 26 September 2013 03:21 PM

    we are ready

    budha Thursday, 26 September 2013 03:36 PM

Look at in India and USA a big Demogrcy Country.
The land powers are in the State.

    dwickra Thursday, 26 September 2013 06:33 AM

    great

    very timely decision ,
Its a north or south it must be belong to every sri lankan , not to any particular ethnic group.
if north become a home for other ethnic people , 90% of this problem can be solved.

    Neloufer Thursday, 26 September 2013 03:48 PM

Galle Face Green is vested in the Government and they can lease land to whomever they wish. State Land can be sold or leased. Government can also acquire land for development purposes but must give monetary compensation or in kind. End of story.

    zavahir Thursday, 26 September 2013 06:46 AM

Land power must go to PC.Only solution is Vote to caliber people.Look North PC.

Suq Madique Friday, 27 September 2013 01:03 AM

Does it have to be unanimous? The majority decision stays.

Rubert Vanderkoon Thursday, 26 September 2013 09:41 AM

What a stupid question. Three judges, three separate judgements agreeing with each other. Is that not unanimous?

    citizenJ Thursday, 26 September 2013 06:53 AM

A great and thoughtful decision to preserve our Nation; Sri Lanka.

    Ryan Thursday, 26 September 2013 06:53 AM

It is clearly stipulated. Who challenged that?

    Dammika Thursday, 26 September 2013 06:56 AM

Yeh ... wait and see ... the judges are all ..... DANNO DANITHI

Jan Chandra Thursday, 26 September 2013 06:56 AM

A timely decision. This should have clarified before. Land powers should be vested with the Centre. So should be the police powers to avoid armed police militia in the provinces.

    Jayasekara Thursday, 26 September 2013 06:57 AM

First step towards separate state if powers given in 13 A can be taken over by courts why should you have a constitution. Thus justify separation.

    CHANDRAPALA Thursday, 26 September 2013 06:58 AM

Giving an affidavit can they change this land mark judgement in future?

    zeylanicus Thursday, 26 September 2013 07:03 AM

Forget the ethnic groups, but if you look around carefully, is this the real situation now ?

    chintha Thursday, 26 September 2013 07:05 AM

    Well said Sarath ayya!

Nareshman Krishnamoo Thursday, 26 September 2013 07:09 AM

So what about the land in Galle face green and other parts?

    Jacko Thursday, 26 September 2013 07:19 AM

If the government say that this is the correct decision by the Supreme Court, then what about the two decisions given by the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court regarding the Impeachment case......No wonder, the bench presided by our present CJ.......

    ananda Thursday, 26 September 2013 07:28 AM

This is a very good judgment to clear all doubts. This will really helpful to unite the country and everybody can leave peacefully any part of the country. Whether it is South or North, all land is belong to Srilankan citizen and not for one ethnic group.

    Kusuma Thursday, 26 September 2013 10:35 AM

    A "u-turn" for separatist elements!

    TooToo Thursday, 26 September 2013 07:37 AM

    Asking for trouble!

    Karikalan Thursday, 26 September 2013 10:41 AM

    a step toward seperation

    asitha Thursday, 26 September 2013 07:39 AM

Sarath. You have mentioned it point blank. All lands including nature reserves will be slaughter tapped/soled in a year or less.

    Dinesh Thursday, 26 September 2013 07:41 AM

Yes Sarath...you are correct. People are avoiding the smoke and falling into the fire. Jaffna is not a issue it the other PC's that worries us. Jaffna PC's have educated people not idiots.

If land powers are given to other PCs it will be sold to various foreign countries. Even the central is also doing the same. Take Colombo for example. How many land plots are owned by other countries.

    bimba Thursday, 26 September 2013 10:48 AM

There are so many people who does not hav a single inch of land in Sri Lanka. In such situation land power is remain with politians, no matter they are from north or south.

    Chandima Friday, 27 September 2013 01:10 PM

u r mistaken. It should be corrected as "a step is backward from separation"
    :)

    Chandima Friday, 27 September 2013 01:12 PM

Separate it. Then you can see the real war. You need to send back to school. :)

    TooToo Thursday, 26 September 2013 07:55 AM

Oh I agree. We lands in Arctic and the Antarctic also belong to the people in the North and South of Sri Lanka, specially the South of Sri Lanka. The issue of independent judiciary and the disgraceful impeachment of the former CJ is on the list of human rights violations.

    Santhan Friday, 27 September 2013 06:55 AM

We should not assume that only Parliament members are patriots and Provincial Council members are unpatriotic. I wonder why cannot we give empower Provincial Councillors... after all they are also elected representatives of people like parliamentarians. We should think positive and move forward to make this country an example to others in the region at least!

    Srilankan Thursday, 26 September 2013 11:08 AM

Every Sri Lankan who love this country must give their highest regards to the Gomin Dayasiri, U'r patriotism is saluted.Hat off Ur great effort ,knowledge and great work sir.

    kalum Thursday, 26 September 2013 08:04 AM

Why? You have a guess as Judge Sripavan is there. They are Judges looked at it from Judiciary angle...

    tarun Thursday, 26 September 2013 02:08 PM

Well said.We all sri lankns .Anyone can live anywhere in Sri Lanka. There is no Tamil,Muslim or Sinhalese lands. We welcome even Eskimos in Ice land if they willing to live with us.We salute our supreme Cort. This is the second most important verdict

james bond Thursday, 26 September 2013 11:22 AM

give them what they deserve.actually north is a tamil country, portugese, dutch and english ruled it and with the independence, sinhalese ruled it.give theirs and keep yours, then no war.
