South Africa won its first ever knock-out match in cricket World Cup history, beating Sri Lanka by nine wickets in their quarter-final at the SCG on Wednesday.

The Proteas dismissed Sri Lanka for 133 before they made light work of the run chase to complete the win from just 18 overs, with Quinton de Kock (78) and Faf du Plessis (21) the not out batsmen.

They will face either New Zealand or West Indies in a semi-final in Auckland next week.

What a pathetic send off to the great man Sanga. I mean everyone rants about Mahela, but what did he do to up lift the game is a different story. SL were never prepared coming into this WC. Sanga was the only person that fought like a lion. Now putting this a side its time to build a new team. Firstly, I kindly ask the sports minister to sack Jayasuriya as a selector, both coaches including Maven and vaas. Kindly get a high caliber international coach to rebuild this team.
