UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe making a special statement today said the UNP was willing to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government ‘to support the country in dealing with the aftermath of the impending resolution at the UNCHR,’

The opposition leader said the passing of the resolution is a certainty and the UNP did not want to see Sri Lanka being relegated as a ‘Pariah State’.

The UNP would support the government in implementing the LLRC, and the 13th Amendment and give the required assistance in solving the national issue, he said. (Pix by Waruna Wanniarachchi) (YP, Lahiru Pothmulla)

You don't need to sign MoU's to support. Subramanian Swamy of Janata Dal is defending us in all forums. Did he sign MoU with the Govt???

A timely action by an opposition. Now it's up to the Govt. to decide.

If the opposition parties had cooperated with the parties in power since 1948 on crucial issues we will not be facing the UNCHR.

Don't let cannibals to get gains when country is suffering. You know who are they :-). People who don't think about country and think about money are not worth living. So do your best for the country.

Subramaniam Swami has nothing to lose or gain but people of Sri Lanka are fast losing their fight for survival with this government.

this is wat we need....who ever rule this country should cope up with others and others should support where they think its correct and there is a need.....

    Marikkar Thursday, 14 March 2013 06:00 AM

Principal Clause of the MOU; permanent seats of opposition to UNP.

    Nishan Wednesday, 13 March 2013 11:14 AM

Another great trap by Ranil. The government has promised to implement the LLRC and the 13th Amendment and now if they do so, they will have the full support of the opposition. Now the government has no excuse not to implement. They are going to be shown to be the liars that they are.
