A show cause notice was issued to the Mirihana Police OIC by the Additional Colombo Chief Magistrate today over the police’s failure to appear in court when the case involving former Sirasa journalist Susil Kindelpitiya was taken up for hearing.
The Mirihana Police was ordered to file the extracts of the investigations on Kindelpitiya in court today but due to the police’s absence, a notice was issued on the Mirihana OIC to be personally present in court on September 16 and show cause as to why he failed to adhere to the court ruling. The OIC may not have finished "cooking" evidence to the taste of his master.

Does that mean, in today's context, OIC's are above the law?

i have one question. In considering this case, more than 75 % of sri lankans know this is a fake case against opposition candidate. Why can't the judge understand that point and why did he remand that candidates. Why did the judge pay more attention to the bogus police report.. Judge should use some common sense, specially in election period.

Isn't there any laws to punish the Police OIC for not appearing on the said date. Is the law applicable only to the ordinary people

OIC is above the law, the judge cannot punish him, there are so many occasions they get away

According to newspapers in many cases police have failed to appear. Why can't the SL Police be more disciplined. Its a shame.

Judges can't use common sense mate. They can only act upon facts and evidences. Those are bogus or not has to be decided after investigations. So if police and lawyers manage to properly file even bogus evidence, then judges have no choice but to remand him.

This simply proves that the Sirasa Journalist Susil Kindelpitiya is not guilty of the offence he has been charged. It is crystal clear that the judiciary in Sri Lanka is just a fake coin.

This is a deliberate act by the Police as the whole case is a fake cooked by the UPFA to take revenge for political advantage during the election time.
