Monks on fast unto death

A group of monks launched a fast unto death campaign in Fort this morning demanding the release of General Sarath Fonseka who is under military custody over an alleged corrupt arms deal. The monks who commenced the fast unto death protest campaign are affiliated to the opposition JVP.

Speaking to Daily Mirror online one of the monks taking part in the protest said that they will continue the fast until the government agrees to give an ear to their demand.

    This is not going to do it. SF will never be released if we act in this way. It's the peaceful way we should go. I think looking the situation with a balanced mind we all should vote UNP this time to chase away all racists and opportunists.

    OR in other words " a group of monks launched a campaign demanding the government to dissolve the judiciary, the police and all the law enforcement establishments and hand over the matters to be handled by monks.."
