The Media Co-ordinating Officer of the Resettlement Ministry, Stanley Pathiraja has been suspended with immediate effect by Minister Fernando over the telecast of the wedding ceremony of his elder son which showed the Minister and his Deputy Vinayagamoorthi Muralitharan dancing in a crowd.

    Jagath Wednesday, 07 July 2010 10:27 AM

What is wrong with dancing at a wedding ceremony???Present day Ministers & Politicians do worst things in public.
See how they behave in parliament. Dancing is much better than behaving as thugs.

    Freeman Wednesday, 07 July 2010 10:28 AM

Our ministers have been doing so many bad things that they cant differentiate between right and wrong now. ignorant fools!

    RayG Wednesday, 07 July 2010 10:41 AM

The moral of the story : The Minister can dance any which way he choses. However, his underlings must dance to the Minister's tune!

    raj Wednesday, 07 July 2010 10:49 AM

It was a private ceromony & not an official event. So they can do whatever they want do. The question is why the head of state is silent on WW, who is dancing in front of UN????

nature boy Wednesday, 07 July 2010 11:33 AM

Media secretaries role is to promote his boss. Not to get popularity for his personal affairs. If secretary had released the dance without boss's clearance to media fair judgment to sack the secretary.

Jacob Zuba the South African president always dances in the stage after a meeting. What is wrong with our country.

Gayan Samarasekara Wednesday, 07 July 2010 10:13 AM

Dancing at a party and telecasting the dance.. I don't see any mistake of any of the two activities. But if telecasting is considered wrong, then dancing is definitely worse. But no suspensions wanted. Yesterday Wimal also danced before the UN..

    gunda Wednesday, 07 July 2010 12:39 PM

No. No. It is who they were dancing with? That's the problem.

kasun liyanage Wednesday, 07 July 2010 12:42 PM

he cant suspend that officer since the act of dancing has arisen out side duty.
if suspension continues to be in force, it will inevitably amount to breach of Fundamental Right.

    rushan Wednesday, 07 July 2010 12:44 PM

why now allegedly questioned now?? what about the past..........................................

    SD Wednesday, 07 July 2010 07:14 PM

This is ridiculous. So, the biggest problem we have is two ministers dancing at a wedding?

    Concerned Wednesday, 07 July 2010 09:57 AM

No need to telecast it. The general public already know that they are good dancers!

    Neil Wednesday, 07 July 2010 09:43 AM

So what?? There is nothing illegal with dancing. There are so many illegal thnings happening among government and why not MR take action against them???

    nodakin Wednesday, 07 July 2010 09:44 AM

its unfair. whats wrong with dancing? shouldn't one have a private life? when you dance you are not a minister. you are there after 5 pm. your office time is over.

Edwardo Baltazar Wednesday, 07 July 2010 09:46 AM

What is wrong in that? a minister cannot dance?

    Steven Wednesday, 07 July 2010 09:47 AM

President makes himself a joke on international TV, maybe he should quit

    Harry Wednesday, 07 July 2010 09:49 AM

It is not the official, but the minister and his deputy who should be suspended .

Senior Citizen Wednesday, 07 July 2010 09:50 AM

Under what rule in the AR or FR was this "offence" indicated ?
    Or just ministerial muscle power.

    DHA Wednesday, 07 July 2010 09:52 AM

What wrong in dancing at a wedding ceremony ?...How come media/Police attackers still in the throne?

    Messenger Wednesday, 07 July 2010 09:56 AM

is dancing wrong in this country?

    Jalatharas Wednesday, 07 July 2010 09:42 AM

    malkanthi Wednesday, 07 July 2010 09:58 AM

So this is the consequence of a query?? Probably there are dos and donts for ministers,. this is typical sri lankan style of handling their affairs!!

    Saradial Wednesday, 07 July 2010 10:00 AM

If ministers even need permission from MR to dance in a wedding, how can Wimal protest without permission ?

    Citizen Wednesday, 07 July 2010 10:03 AM

The video can be blotched. But, he blotch the eyes of those who attended the wedding and saw for themselves the "Thovila" he and his Deputy did? What a hypocricy!

    rake Wednesday, 07 July 2010 10:03 AM

    what type of dance?
