Malaka tells Chandrika what not to do

9 March 2013 01:24 am - 71     - {{hitsCtrl.values.hits}}

Minister Mervyn Silva’s son Malaka, in a letter to former President Chandrika Kumaratunga on her recent remarks about the Mervyn Silva family, said she should refrain from making contemptuous remarks so as to preserve the status of a noble family rather than finding specks in others eyes.

In the letter released to the media, Malaka recalls his father’s dedication to the Bandaranaike family had been valued by the whole country. S.W.R.D. Bandaranaike and the Sirimavo Bandaranaike are most prominent among them. My father became known to this famous family through President Mahinda Rajapaksa in 1971.

Since then he was more concerned about the problems faced by the Bandaranaikes, than the problems of his own family. He never deserted the Bandaranaike family when they were in trouble.

“I suppose Madam Chandrika has not forgotten how my father bravely came to protect the Bandaranaike memorial from the thugs at a time they were out of the limelight,” he said.“I also regret her sarcastic remarks which bring her disgrace. One’s behavior will help them to remain in the minds of people even after the death.”

The letter is a response to remarks made by the former President Chandrika Bandaranaike about Malaka at a public meeting held in memory of the late Vijaya Kumarathunga in Kandy. She is said to have referred to him as being stupid.

Malaka… You are great.. The Ex. president Chandrika does not deserve to be respected because what's she saying and doing now is against Sri Lanka. She is having an unstable mind.can you remember once what she said to BBC? “My son said that he is ashamed to say he is Sri Lankan”. it is true Chandrika and her son had forgotten what LTTE had done. it seems as she lost an eye from a bomb blast her mind is also blind now.

    Grace Saturday, 09 March 2013 10:18 AM

Madam Chandrika was genuinely interested to do good for the country. Unfortunately because of certain politicians with venom in their hearts she failed.

It was Chandrika who brought these people to politics in SL in the first place.

    Nodrog Saturday, 09 March 2013 04:51 AM

    mikee Saturday, 09 March 2013 05:36 AM

Malaka has rightly said as follows "ONE'S BEHAVIOR WILL HELP THEM TO REMAIN IN THE MINDS OF PEOPLE EVEN AFTER THE DEATH". You and your beloved father has done a lot of good things that the people of this country will remember for ever.

    tony Saturday, 09 March 2013 05:39 AM

The comment what Chandrika made is perfectly correct

    dIREsTRAITS Saturday, 09 March 2013 02:38 AM

Chandrika however good or bad she maybe, is a twice elected president of Sri Lanka. This guy is a son ONLY known for his activities. Chandrika may say anything she want's. What the hell has this guy done for the country to question or lecture a former president? He should first find a 9-5 job and start paying taxes, then and only then maybe he can participate in the franchise. Until then he should go back to school and get on with his hodiya!

pure Sri Lankan Saturday, 09 March 2013 12:00 AM

There were a lot of mistakes Chandrika made and we are reaping the wrath of the bad decisions she made. Nevertheless she was somebody who had far more credibility and stature than the current President and his clan of goons. Sri Lanka is seen as a joke amongst nations. God help us! via DM iPad app

    Manisha Saturday, 09 March 2013 06:04 AM

Youngers should stay out of grown up affairs, and allow his usually father to fight his battles.

Young Malaka must be mistaking a former President for one of the young victims of his bullying. apples does not fall far from the tree, and teaching his son how to be a gentleman might be a stretch, but Mervin should put in some effort.

    Dinesh Saturday, 09 March 2013 06:04 AM

This is why Dr. Shirani Bandaranayake says she is still the CJ. In her views she got impeached by thugs, murderers and thieves.
I hope in the next election, voters will use they brains instead of their kidneys......

    sara Saturday, 09 March 2013 02:54 AM

It only shows how jobless these people were when they had to look after Bandaranayikes at that time.
We all know how some people hang around big families doing all odd jobs for them simply because they
have no other thing to do.

Good lesson for all who associate and seek help from low bred people.

It is a golden rule applicable then and also now.

Politicians must be free of thuggery so they are not pray to thugs themselves. Its a symbiotic relationship. Why cant the powerful depend on the law of the nation, which we all have to depend on. The reason I suppose is that the politicians DO NOT TRUST the legal institutions and the arm of the law as they have diluted the strength of the Legal system for their own gain. All citizens of Lanka are waiting for the drug dealers and the corrupt politicians to fall.So that we all an be free again.
