Gambling den: Suspects fined Rs.100 each

Nine suspects, who were charged with gambling at the Union Place gambling den, were fined Rs.100 each when they pleaded guilty on being produced at the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court.

The manager pleaded not guilty and as such was asked to appear in Court on May 16 to answer charges.

Vajira Neththikumara, who owned the building in which the gambling den was located, was charged with granting permission to operate the gambling den. She has been asked to appear in Court on March 3.(LS)
