Then, please ask the government ministers and their henchemen to come and teach universities.

    Saman Thursday, 11 October 2012 11:51 PM

Decided to temporarily suspend is a good decision. It seems academics dedicated to betterment of education are tired now.

    MalindaSDS Thursday, 11 October 2012 12:29 PM

while these guys fight for their rights, we are still waiting for university entrance...
WHO'S GONNA FIGHT FOR OUR RIGHTS????

    sg Thursday, 11 October 2012 11:50 AM

Keep in mind all those people are acdamics not people like baffollows......

Basil is smart. He has adopted the policy of divide and conquer and it seems working. via DM Android App

Yes,Premadasa is the ideal one. People used to do protest and strikes for each and every issue as a habit. Strike should be the final decision.

    WhiteVan Thursday, 11 October 2012 11:00 AM

JR and RP are no where near MR

Kiri Gamarala Thursday, 11 October 2012 10:55 AM

A single political brain, a single bureaucratic bran and many academic brains appear to be locked in a clash.

    Bandara Thursday, 11 October 2012 10:48 AM

Looks demo-crazy. Do they want every member to attend the meeting to make a decision? It's not practical. BTW many decisions of FUTA members are not practical. They must assign authority to a group who can negotiate and make decisions on their behalf. Otherwise they will jokers in public eyes. It would be highly detrimental to the higher education in Sri Lanka.

    Gunaruwan Thursday, 11 October 2012 10:41 AM

FUTA was hijack by JVP. History is repeating, as what happened to SF

    Senaka Thursday, 11 October 2012 10:30 AM

It's high time to declare higher education an essential service. Otherwise these pundits will destroy the future of our children under the cover of 6% demand. I totally agree that we need a ruler like JR or Premadasa.

    irshad Thursday, 11 October 2012 10:14 AM

Rasa! send them all home and you go and teach university undergraduates. This not like a other areas. If power goes due to strike nd military personnel could be deployed to restore. Knowledge workers could not be easily replaced.

    Roshan Thursday, 11 October 2012 10:16 AM

They agreed to take the Governments proposals to the Executive Committee :) That is how FUTA works, true Democracy!

Geethal Rodrigo Thursday, 11 October 2012 12:00 AM

I wonder if anyone of these teachers have their own children in universities who planned their wedding on next year. this is not the way of winning... via DM Android App

    Roshan Thursday, 11 October 2012 10:15 AM

Yes, they spent more on Education than MR and his bunch of thieves and idiots!

    Roshan Thursday, 11 October 2012 10:08 AM

Ha ha... are you going to teach at University... are you even 8th grade qualified?

    DUSHAN Thursday, 11 October 2012 10:06 AM

Premadasa rules better than JR and MR

    RamUK Thursday, 11 October 2012 10:09 AM

Clever move by Basil to put FUTA into situation where every common man thinks what they agreed

Calistus Jayatilleke Thursday, 11 October 2012 10:06 AM

They may have agreed to disagree.

Al Rasa Thursday, 11 October 2012 09:59 AM

Send them on vacation of post.

    ind Thursday, 11 October 2012 09:53 AM

They may be waiting for JVP approval for future proceedings !

Junior Citizen Thursday, 11 October 2012 09:53 AM

THESE GUYS ARE WORST THAN AN ORDINARY WORKERS TRADE UNION- YOU NEED A JR OR PREMADSA TO DEAL WITH THEM

    Sumithi Thursday, 11 October 2012 09:45 AM

Seems to be executive committee is divided on the offers..

They loss the momentum and support when they said they are ready to compromise a LOT on 6% even before the talks started..

    dilshan Thursday, 11 October 2012 12:00 AM

    hmmmm via DM Android App

    Wara Thursday, 11 October 2012 09:19 AM

Then what are they agreed at the discussion with Basil ?
