A complaint was lodged with the Fraud Investigations Bureau by a former Secretary of an institution of a well known UNP member alleging that his signature was forged in several documents sent to foreign embassies in the country to collect funds during Ramadan.
The secretary alleged that although he has resigned from the institution the wife of the UNP member had got a clerk to forge his signature in documents later sent to the embassies seeking funds to be deposited to accounts to do welfare for poor people during the Ramadan season.
On receiving information of the move the former secretary had informed several embassies including the Palestine embassy regarding his forged signature and advised them not to deposit any funds.
The Fraud Investigations Bureau is investigating the incident. (Daily Mirror online)
