Deadline extended for IDPs

The Elections Commissioner has extended the deadline till the end of November for the enumeration of displaced voters as the resettlement process is yet to be completed, officials said.

The eligible voters have already been enumerated in other parts of the country. The Department is currently processing their information for the preparation of lists.

“If anyone has not been enumerated by local officials, he or she can inform us in writing, Deputy Commissioner of Elections Mahinda Deshapriya said. (KB)

    The displaced people are still living in temporary huts, how can they provide important details such as identity, employement, residence add etc.??. Their main struggle is survival not election!!
