Practice what you preach! 'innocent until proven guilty' does that ring a bell Australia ? Sri lanka should choose the best qualified to do the job, however who we choose is non of Australia's bussiness. They may refuse but that also means no one in authority will care about the boats that head towards Australia.

Uruwarige Wannila Aththo should be the next top envoy in Canberra (Land of Aborigines) !.

Rajendra Monday, 24 January 2011 08:38 AM
Real war criminals were the LTTE, who killed their own people who oppose them.....Killing your own people who you are suppose to protect is really sick.....
malkanthi Monday, 24 January 2011 06:37 AM
Exactly, the so called career diplomats are doing nothing to reverse the image created by tamil diaspora. They are enjoying all benefits from state only.

Cant gratititude be shown through a promotion locally or monetary means instead? An ambassador must have excellent skills to mix with foreign people and promote our businesses.

Firstly, he took over after the end of war!!! next, he is diplomatically immune, so he would be safe. Even if Australia refuses the nomination, we should leave the place vacant without a replacement. After all, he is a member of the worlds most successful military!
Nilantha Monday, 24 January 2011 03:50 AM
Yes, countries should think twice when they accepting Pro-LTTEers to their countries... they are the real war criminals..
Nadikz Monday, 24 January 2011 03:53 AM
Most European countries are in the practice of sending distinguished army personnel on diplomatic service. Australia has never questioned that. Now why should they question us? This is called Double Standards. Afterall, what more can be expected from ex-convicts of colonial Britain and aborigine-annihilators?
Razor Blade Sunday, 23 January 2011 01:52 PM
How about George Bush or Tony Blair from their countries. If appointed, are yu having simi
Priyanka Monday, 24 January 2011 01:58 AM
Countries around the world should be careful when war criminals from Sri Lanka are appointed because it can have a negative impact on their image and security. Once never should not forget the danger Sri Lanka acquiring weapons from North Korea.
Harsh Monday, 24 January 2011 12:18 AM
All those so called career diplomats were sleeping up until our gallant military personnel took up positions. They just entertained overseas politicians and some of they were NGO payroll.
Sammodha Sunday, 23 January 2011 11:36 PM
Yes..people like Channa will say so! We need to addrees the pressing problem of getting the diaspora & the other Tamils to get in to our fold. We can't force that, we need to win them. To do that, sending a military man would not help. This S.L. Govt. is not solving issues instead they screw up big time. We need some one who understands both sides. We do not need Baristers , Engineers or Dr's...we need a man or a women with people skills! Lte's get the basics right!!
Calvin Sunday, 23 January 2011 11:01 PM
Diplomatic figures should represent the country on behalf the governing body and its people. Its not job... which can earn $$$. It is a service and people appointed should think country before self.
Flyhalf Sunday, 23 January 2011 05:54 PM
It is time for all civilized countries to reject these appointments. These are war criminals and have to be brought to justice, sooner or later.
shameer Sunday, 23 January 2011 05:44 PM
probably we should have questioned Aussie Diplomats when LTTE's organized demonstrations, funds from Aussie soils....
Narayan Sunday, 23 January 2011 05:39 PM
Appointing as an envoy is a good way to show our gratitude to those heroes who fought hard to liberate the country.
Career Diplomat Sunday, 23 January 2011 05:09 PM
If army, navy, police and political cronies get diplomatic postings, what will happen to the people who spend their lives, studying and practicing diplomacy?
anura Sunday, 23 January 2011 03:58 PM
It is risk for Thisara too, if war crime case started and he might be arreserd on the spot..
channa Sunday, 23 January 2011 03:40 PM
Come on Australia...Accept the nomination......Without playing being scared of the LTTE supporters.
Yehiya-Doha Sunday, 23 January 2011 02:52 PM
This is foolish appointments. Most professional people are there. Countries image will come down.
Razor Blade Sunday, 23 January 2011 01:53 PM
How about George Bush or Tony Blair from their countries, If appointed, will you be having the same thoughts about them too?.
