Air Force helicopter assists to douse Hantana fire

Sri Lanka Air Force has deployed a Bell 212 helicopter from Ratmalana this evening to assist in retarding the spread of a forest fire which erupted in the Hantana hills in Kandy.
“Using water from Polgolla Tank, the crew of Bell 412 helicopter battled the fire with the aid of its under slung ‘Bambi bucket’ flying three consecutive sorties and limited the spread of the raging fire,” Air Force Spokesman Group Captain Andrew Wijesooriya said.
