The Colombo Additional Magistrate today refused to issue an arrest warrant on former Welikada Police OIC, ASP Sudath Asmadala, and granted him bail over allegedly fabricating evidence in the 2016 Rajagiriya accident case.
When the case was taken up, Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) requested the Colombo Additional Magistrate to issue an arrest warrant on former OIC for allegedly fabricating evidence in the case filed against former minister Patali Champika Ranawaka on charges of causing an accident at Rajagiriya in 2016.
However, when the case was taken up today, Colombo Additional Magistrate Kanchana Neranjani de Silva refused to issue an arrest warrant on former OIC. (Yoshitha Perera)

This is serious issue where, powerful politician with the help of IGP persuaded then OIC of walikada ,to manipulate with witness, to let the culprit politician leave free, while put the blame on innocent injured rider, but then oic not arrested, what a banana republic

The rider was on a illegal bike, racing on the streets and hit from behind. Some people don't know the case and the traffic rules but just commenting to show there ignorance. He was not a innocent rider. The fabrication of evidence is a different issue to be proved in court.

Good to know. I am also going to fabricate false evidence hereafter because now I know that the law permits it. Actually, as it is personified, "law is blind".

Law should be independent, do not involved with politics

Losing a battle is not entirely losing the war! Same way (Ja)Rarajitha too was granted bail by a magistrate but finally ended up in jail. As for those who took their hats off should find hook to hang their hats for good!
