An island-wide curfew would be imposed tomorrow in order to facilitate officers of the security forces who are on leave to report back to their respective camps, the President's Media Division said.
It said the curfew in other districts except for the districts of Colombo, Kalutara, Gampaha and Puttalam will be lifted at 5.00 am on Tuesday (28) and will be re-imposed at 8.00 pm on the same day.

Imposing a nation wide curfew for the sole purpose of facilitating military officers to return to work does not make any sense at all. Unless there are many many military officers who are reluctant to report for duty due to the fear of catching the covid-19. It is fashionable to be formal and look things via unforgiving cold logic but we are not Europeans but South Asian. We have to also rely on our emotional intelligence and seek some balance, military officers are also humans with their own anxious families to worry about.

I’m pretty sure that it’s for personnel who are on leave and for the reservists who don’t have personal vehicles for transport. There! That’s the Logic @Jaffna Logic.

People should help the forces by strictly observing the curfew. Dont destroy the lives of these innocent soldiers.

When unsensible people rule, then unsensible strategies will be implemented!

There is absolutely no read on or logic behind this. Why declare an Islandwide curfew for this ? The authorities must be transparent in their decisions.

Dear Mr. President, We believe you will see this message. Please be kind enough to relax curfews at reasonable intervals all island as we are heading for a very serious food shortage. We are falling ill of gastritis and other complications due to shortages of essential medicines. We will have a higher death rate of other ailments very soon onwards for which who is going to take the responsibility? Your dictator style of rule is not appropriate to the modern democratic way of life and you need to think twice as people might take to the streets protesting very soon and you are definitely going to shoot us like you did in the Karunanayake FTZ and Rathu Passwala water incident. Your way of rule is going to come with heavy and disastrous consequences very soon.

Why would the lifting of the curfew hinder the return of these service men and women? If the motive is to spread less by the infected members how did they become infected in the first place? Were they at duty at quarantine centres? Depriving the whole nation to get back to life to let trained forces follow orders to get back to barracks doesn't make sense. And also why are they armed with automatic weapons?
