Ha ha, still the sane old communist logo. Everyone is ditching communists and stupid Lankans are embracing it expecting everything free.

If the hammer and sickle as a symbol and the economic model of socialism are to be the solution to Sri Lanka's central problems, as was demonstrated on Labour Day in Colombo at the NPP event, then one can only advise the country and its people not to vote for Anura Kumara and his party!!! Apart from the fact that Anura Kumara does not have the stature and leadership skills to be President, none of the country's major, real problems can be solved with one of the world's failed models of socialist color, even if it is modified and adapted to suit Sri Lankan conditions! Only a social democratic, market-based "version" of socialism could be the political engine for significant economic reforms on the way to a more socially just, fair society!!! But whether this corresponds to the intentions of the NPP and its presidential candidate is not yet clear to me!

It's very scary if there fellows come to power.

    Zak Thursday, 02 May 2024 04:25 AM

Note: no attack or lunch packets provided by NPP unlike other parties. Genuine crowd who attended the rally voluntarily

Note: no freedom of speech in Russia, Cuba, Venezuela, China. And no prosperity.

Look at the rallies of UNP,SJB,Pohottu, and the rally of NPP there is a vast difference, those who particip[ated in the NPP rally is discipline and they march in an order. I think the people of this country has decided to test NPP as others have failed them.

When I checked on you tube the different rally's, in others crowds were no where near to NPP rallies. If the crowd is an indication of support, NPP will make it to save our country from miserable rogue politicians

Strategising And Approaching Accordingly Thursday, 02 May 2024 06:20 AM

They are on a mission and by the day, getting bigger whilst others are squabbling and having mini circuses in their party. They are having younger candidates and seem well oiled and organised. Similar with Japan who was the enemy of the most countries at one time, look how it’s progressed and prospered. Seems like NPP has adopted this approach and strategising accordingly.

Coming colours no good for a country still struggling since independence from the British more than 75 years ago.

This AKD has no skills of being a President leave aside being a PM. What are their policies it all sounds dangerous and we the people would regret very much if they aimlessly cast their vote for this ruthless party

    Gabriella Thursday, 02 May 2024 03:22 PM

@Volker Metzger. What you articulate has truth in its advocacy. As a hardcore supporter of the NPP/JVP it also annoys me that the party clings to unsavoury images of the past with negative connotations for the future. Everyday, I hope for the manifestation of pragmatic commonsense. I still live in hope. But one aspect I am absolutely sure of is that we cannot have a repetition of the last 76 years for another 5 years. How desperate have we become; to advocate the policies of President ?Premadasa as a panacea for the future ?

The presence of large crowds at political meetings cannot be taken to granted. Many crowds at the these meetings will see stars after the elections. People still have the fear that NPP as "wolfs under sheep's clothing"

The politically illiterate middle class is in for a surprise! Their masters are on the verge of being ousted from power. Unaware of the political nuances, the middle class perceives this as a catastrophic event. However, they may not realize that their potential savior comes from Thambuththegama, a town reminiscent of the rural Sri Lankan roots from which many of them hail.
