UK’s Indo-Pacific Regional Director meets Anura Kumara

Colombo, May 06 (Daily Mirror)- Indo-Pacific Regional Director of the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office Ben Mellor met NPP leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake at the JVP Head Office this afternoon.

Humaira Hatia, Head of Sri Lanka at UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, and Andrew Patrick, the British High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, Tom Soper, the First Secretary, and MP Vijitha Herath attended the meeting.

The current economic and political situation in Sri Lanka, regional geopolitical challenges and cooperation between the United Kingdom and Sri Lanka were discussed at length, party sources said.

Mr. Janz, do you know in the SLPP - 90% of the seat heaters cannot read, write or talk English. Even the former President Mythiripala Sirisena also writes English in Sinhala and read it without knowing what it is by his secretary. This is the world, but Anura Kumara and their team is well educated professionals.

English is not mandatory to be the President of this country

They don't speak in English but they are English educated. They understand everything written in English and whoever talks in English which is extremely important in handling international matters. They don't have to speak in English to impress the world since they are already on the top. Our country is way below in all aspects and needs someone who can stand with confidence, not like AKD who cannot even utter a word in English.
