LPL, mirrored after US football, is an interstate game in USA and India. LPL was brought to Sri Lanka by India with an ulterior motive - implement a Federal solution in Sri Lanka once the game popularize the inter-state concept in Sri Lanka. Ever wonder why Jaffna Kings has the most funding out of all LPL teams. Jaffna's economy doesn't correlate with LPL funding compared to rest of the country that is doing better economically.

Any over 60 retired players even from the Government will be welcome.

Sri Lanka Cricket will be very lucky to get tthe signature of any international cricketer selected to play in the T20 2024 crcket world cup to be held in the West Indies and USA which would conclude only on the previous day the 30th of June. before the LPL is due to start. I don't think any internatioal criicketer in the right frame of mind will sign in to play in a mediocre T20 cricket tournament like the LPL and offers you peanuts for your efforts. As in previous years the LPL will be made up of the current Sri Lanka cricketers some schoolboy cricketers and a springkling of retirees from international cricket trying to make a fast buck.
