These is a saying, “it is better to keep your mouth shut and have the whole world think you are an idiot; rather than open it and remove the doubt.” The elections are around the corner. The people are clamouring for change. And these NPP/JVP neophytes have only demonstrated an aptitude for mouthing platitudes and worn out rhetoric. Surely, some of the many intellectuals who allegedly dominate the party can formulate some credible policy that assures the electorate of contemporary thinking and progressive strategy. Currently all we have from the NPP/JVP is condescending rhetorical bullshit that people have been hearing for the last 76 years, and are sick and tired of hearing. Unless the so-called intellectuals who have graduated from the University of Peradeniya display some brilliance, the unloose able election is destined for the scrap heap.

Both factions that ran the country during the last seventy-eight years have failed miserably. Today, these scoundrels are interested only in enriching themselves at the expense of the general public, no matter how disastrous it will be for country. The drug scams, rush for bar permits, (by both factions) and the demanding of duty free vehicles are their latest ruses in the unending line of deceptions of which they have never been short of. So let us give the NPP an opportunity to rule the country, as will definitely be done at the next elections. However, we must monitor how they perform and correct them if they, too, go astray.

If the NPP gets the reins of power, it will be too late and will be impossible to get rid of them since they have the murderous habit built into their system. Even the university students who embrace their culture act like hooligans threatening other students in universities. Give them the seat of governance and Presidential powers and watch how the country turns into another Pol Pot regime. If they take over, we will not have any support from developing countries but there will be many outside powers that would try to gain control leading this country into anarchy, purely because of the important position we hold in the Indian Ocean. Very well said. If all Upasakas and Upasikas, practice a bit of self-control the whole society and the parliament would be hugely disciplined. Then the law and lawmakers have little to do. People of this country who were born before 1975, very well remember the discipline of the 87-89 uprising which went out of control when Dehsapremee-Janatha-Viyapara (JVP) carders started getting personal revenge in the name of social justice.
