Fire reported at girls’ college hostel in Weligama

Colombo, April 29 (Daily Mirror) - A fiire has reportedly broken out in a girls' college hostel in Weligama.

The fire had reportedly broken out on the third floor of a four-storied building where the hostel of the college is located.

The Matara Municipal Fire Brigade Unit, the Weligama Police and local residents have assisted in bringing the flames under control and extinguishing the fire.

The damage caused by the fire has not been revealed so far and another similar incident had also been reported in the same girls' school on March 3.

    The school girls who occupy the hostel frequently use the electricity very surreptitiously for either ironing their clothes or boiling the water Sometimes due to the short circuit and the spark the fire may break out. Therefore the warden and her supportive staff should be vigilant in order to avert the incidents like this

    When u build hostel , be prepared for fire and carelessness bcos all r in a rush...instructions should be given to the hostel residents and security by management n fire department..2 incidents in 2 months means something really went wrong...
