Kandy, Nov 26 (Daily Mirror) - Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe said the recently resigned Sri Lanka Cricket Board Secretary Mohan de Silva contacted him from Australia, exposing corruption within the SLC.
"Mohan de Silva called me from Australia revealing his attempts to steer the SLC in the right direction. Witnessing a lack of proper action, he highlighted widespread theft under the guise of investments that took place within the SLC, leading to his resignation," he said during a visit to Kandy to meet the Maha Nayaka Theras of the Malwathu and Asgiri Chapters.
Expressing his commitment to oust corrupt officials, the Minister said he was planning for a proactive approach over the past year.
"I appointed an Interim Committee to identify corrupt officials at SLC. This committee's appointment is not permanent," he said.
However, the Minister added that regardless of his efforts, the corrupt individuals may tend to regain power eventually.
Pointing out the influence of district associations, particularly addressing the Kandy Association, the Minister challenged them to undergo an audit.
He said those associations should be dissolved due to prevalent issues.
Highlighting the need for cricket-loving individuals to take charge, the Minister proposed committee appointments from among such people, followed by board elections to prevent the emergence of corrupt individuals.

This call from former secretary could be a plan orchestrated by Shammi. Former secy was another "kinithulla" continued and cooperated with the group of SLC. Can't be singled out as honest.

He should have quit at the first instance. He too was part of the team, he cannot distance himself from the corrupt activities of SLC. It is too late. What is he asking in return for the favor?

Dear Minister of Sports; Why don't you request the President in writing to authorize a Forensic Audit'?If he rejects your request, make it public. Why don't you request Paliment/The Speaker to demand a Forensic Audit'? Instead of talking, take action.

Silva, you're part of the corrupt SLC regime, yeah.

This guy Mohan is no better than others. He held top positions under Sumathipala administration for longtime. He was a member of the SLC touring party whenever the Srilankan team toured Australia. He travelled in business class to visit his son who has been residing in Australia for the last 15 years. He is a one of the top crooks

The Minister never did what was required to do.He is always on hear say. That is why the corrupt lot is still hanging on. Looks like highly unprofessional way of doing things.

It is highly unlikely that the President would agree to order the Auditor General to carry out a Forensic Audit on SLC. However, the Minister must request the President to do so. If the President refuses, then make that public so that the public can show their displeasure if and when an Election is held.

More will come out soon. Assets of all office bearers and their immediate family must be investigated requiring them to show how they found the money to acquire the assets. This must be applied all Parliamentarians too. I will not expect RW to take this path as he is supporting MR

High time there is a statutory audit by an auditor who is responsible only to the Parliament like the comptroller and auditor general in uk

In SL people at the top have too much authority they consider themselves above the rules ,this deference to authority and power, contributes to weak controls and corruption, which today has become a way of life Examples everywhere not just in cricket

This is all political talk. Highly unprofessional. Why not indict them in a court of law.Mohan was involved from the time of Sumathi. That is the best way to get rid of this lot. Minister is playing to the gallery.

The Minister must push the Attorney general to file charges pending on the OZ Tour Audit report. It appears AG's dept is corrupt.
Karalasingam Sivalingam Sunday, 26 November 2023 10:38 PM
It looks SLC is more powerful than the Minister, we have become helpless, since International Cricket Committee could ban Sri Lanka for life

Another accusation that is very general and nothing specific. Why can't there be anything specific mentioned about any of these accusations? Ada dennang, heta dennang....

Why is he hiding in Australia? He is also part of this corruption.

A lot of corrupt politicians hide behind the Sanga to portray a pious and innocent impression. Did he really need to discuss this with the Sanga? He is a lousy politician who has list his head and his way. Sadly his ego is decimating the game nationally. Wonder where his close advisor Mr Cool is these days?

Sri Lanka Cricket ( SLC) failed to support the claim that the Decision Review System ( DRS) was the invention of a Sri Lankan. Tony Greig said " How can we help you if both Sri Lanka Govt and Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) are not interested in getting due recognition for Sri Lanka for invention of DRS ". There is no other genuine claiment except a Sri Lankan for the invention of DRS.

To continue from what I said above.Reform has to start from the top.The leadership has to show by EXAMPLE how to do it by following the rules for others to follow. Otherwise it is like a school where the Principal plays truant while expecting the school boys to follow the rules.Audits are mere postmortems of what is happening in real time obvious to anyone visiting Sri Lanka. from Australia

Even Moran enjoy the perks and privileges fully while holding his position. They are all in the same game and now he is trying to be a saint

All those who cheat and steal in Sri Lanka are living in Australia. We should have a treaty with that government to all those wanted thieves. So me are one leg here and one in Australia.

This is only political drama because of the budget.
