Wijemanne bags third title

Thehan Wijemanne bagged his third title of the 111th Colombo Tennis Championship by winning the Men’s Open doubles as he along with his brother Methwan defeated the pair of Sanka Athukorala and Lithum Jayabandu by two sets to nil in the final played at the SLTA tennis courts at Greenpath, Colombo yesterday.

The two brothers continued their domination after winning back to back doubles titles at the SSC Tennis Championship in 2025 and 2026 and Thehan in the process won the Colombo Tennis Championship triple title for the second time having earlier grabbed it in 2022.

In the women’s Open doubles Sandithi Usgodaarachchi and Annaya Norbert ended champions when they defeated Akeesha Silva and Gehansa Methnadi by two sets to nil in the final.

Women’s Open: Sandithi Usgodaarachchi and Annaya Norbert beat Akeesha Silva and Gehansa Methnadi 2-9 (7/5, 6/3)

Men’s Open: Thehan Wijemanne and Methvan Wijemanne beat Sanka Athukorala and Lithum Jayabandu
