The much looked forward to schools rugby encounter the Bradby Shield clash between traditional rivals Trinity College and Royal College will kick off today in the first leg at the Royal Sports Complex at 4.15 pm.
This will be the 80th in the series with Trinity leading with 40 wins to Royal’s 37 with two matches in 1992 and 2016 ended in a tie.
Royal are the holders of the shield having recorded an overall win by 18 points to 13 with Royal winning the first leg (15-5) and Trinity the second (8-3).
The two teams will be meeting each other for the third time this season with Trinity recording a runaway 58-26 in the schools knockout final and a 48-15 win in the league tournament.
Trinity will move into the game with their heads high having secured both the League and the Knockout titles and remain unbeaten.
All in all the two sides will no doubt be moving into the game with a mission with Royal looking forward for a repeat last year’s win and Trinity seeking to avenge that defeat.
The biggest margin of victory of the two legs combined is held by Royal 83-0 which they achieved in 2002 under Zulki Hamid while Trinity has recorded the most consecutive wins of six from 1952 to 1957.
