Rukmal and Madirika win National Race Walking

RMD Rukmal of Uva Province and  Kalhari Madirika of Southern Province won the men’s and women’s titles respectively at the National Race Walking Championship in Colombo last weekend as an affiliated event of the Golden Jubilee National Sports Festival organised by the Ministry of Sports.

Nearly 100 athletes who qualified through provincial competitions participated in the championship, representing all provinces in Sri Lanka.

Rukmal claimed the men’s title after producing an impressive performance, completing the race in 1 hour, 35 minutes and 02 seconds. Madirika secured the women’s championship with a winning time of 1 hour, 47 minutes and 57 seconds.

Southern Province dominated the overall competition by winning both the men’s and women’s team championships.
