Lavanga not available for Asia Rugby Division 1

Apr. 5 (Daily Mirror) - Kandy Sports Club Skipper, Lavanga Perera will not be part of the National 15-A-Side Rugby Team for the Asia Rugby Division 1 Tournament, which will take place next month among hosts, Sri Lanka, India, Qatar and Kazakhstan at the Racecourse Grounds in Colombo.

The national selectors named an initial squad of 66 players who will start training early next week with the approval of Head Coach, Sanath Martis by the Sri Lanka Rugby (SLR) Council scheduled to take place on April 6.

According to reliable sources more than 10 players have already written to the SLR on their unavailability.

Dilshard Fareed, Nigel Ratwatte, Tarinda Ratwatte, Heshan Jenson, Wewala Panditha, Jason Dissanayake, Chathuranga Kudaleege, Nigel Ratwatte, Kavindu Perera, Srinarth Sooriyabandara and Dinal Ekanayake are the other Kandy SC players who are in the initial squad of 66 players.

Meanwhile, Thilina Bandara and Dilshad Fareed are also nursing injuries and are doubtful for this tournament.
