Kane vs Haaland: Stars collide as England and Norway battle for World Cup semi-final spot

Harry Kane

Calm before the storm Erling Haaland carries a team-mate

With the best eight teams playing for the coveted prize in world football, the quarter final match between old horse England and the sport’s latest rage Norway gets top billing while all eyes will be on how the two big names in either team, Harry Kane and Erling Haaland cope up at the Miami Stadium in Florida, USA on Saturday.
The two men are of contrasting styles and power with Kane able to play from any part of the field and Haaland extremely dangerous in front of the opponents’ goal, ever ready to strike the killer blows.
Both England and Norway have not confronted each other since 2014 when they featured in a match on September 3 at the Wembley Stadium where England won 1-0 thanks to a penalty shot by Wayne Rooney.

Kane was then 21 still finding his feet on the pitch and Haaland 14, only dreaming of the day he could one day be the giant of Norway football.Today both icons of their respective countries have come a long way and only one will be left standing at the end of their World Cup quarter final on Saturday.
By way of goal scoring potential there is very little to choose between Kane and Haaland with the former having six to his credit and the latter seven at the 2026 World Cup.
Haaland has been the cool figure right throughout the World Cup and will be tested against England who have been playing as a team and the match between the two teams will undoubtedly be the pick of the games after France plays against Morocco and Spain takes on Belgium in the first two quarter final games.
The last quarter final match will be between Argentina and Switzerland on Sunday.
