Colombo, Jan. 30 (Daily Mirror) - Two Sri Lanka junior players Ivanka Samarasinghe and Methwan Wijemanne advanced to the girls' and boys' categories quarter finals respectively of the ITF Tennis Circuit Week2 tournament when they came out victorious in the second round matches played at the SLTA tennis courts in Greenpath, Colombo.
Samarasinghe overcame Salina Jayesh Vaidya of Singapore while Wijemanne got the better of Diganath M of India with both winning by the identical margins of two sets to nil.
Two other Sri Lankans Dinara de Silva and Vichinthya Nilaweera bowed out of contention when they underwent defeats in their second round matches to Siyoen Sim of Korea and Mathew Goh of Malaysia. The quarter finals are scheduled to be played tomorrow.
Results:
Girls' – Ivanka Samarasinghe (Sri Lanka) beat Salina Jayesh Vaidya (Singapore) 2-0 (6/4, 6/3).
Boys' – Methwan Wijemanne (Sri Lanka) beat Diganath M (India) 2-0 (6/2, 6/2).
