One student missing after three swept away by waves at Galle Face

Colombo, June 10 (Daily Mirror) - Three school students were swept away by strong waves while swimming off the Galle Face beach in Colombo this afternoon (10), prompting a search and rescue operation by the Sri Lanka Navy.

According to reports, two of the students were rescued, while another remains missing. One of the rescued students is said to be in critical condition.

The students, believed to be around 15 years old and residents of Maligawatta, had visited the beach as part of a group of six friends. Three of them entered the sea and were subsequently caught in the waves.

Sri Lanka Navy divers have launched a special search operation to locate the missing student.

Further investigations are underway.
