The Nuwara Eliya Golf Club (NEGC)-hosted Monthly Medal for April 2024 recently saw former Thomian cricketer Ken de Alwis emerge victorious with a Nett score of 71, showing he is a master not only in cricket but golf as well.
De Alwis, who represented his alma mater, S. Thomas’ College Mount Lavinia, on the cricket pitch, showed his class by outperforming the competition on the golf course in the Hill Country. His impressive round earned him the top spot, edging out the runner-up, Vigneswaran Kandasamy, who carded a Nett 72.
Finishing in third place was Nadesan Krishnakumar, who continued his good form in the recent past, with the Hill Country course being his favourite, with a Nett score of 75.
The monthly medal tournament, which is a regular fixture at the picturesque NEGC, attracted a strong field of players eager to test their skills on the challenging course nestled in the hills of the central Sri Lankan highlands.
Once again, the event was organised by the NEGC Committee and secretary Brig. (Rtd.) Nanda Hathurusinghe, who is doing yeoman service for the Hill Country club.
