Colombo, Jan. 24 (Daily Mirror) - Five Sri Lanka players three in the boys and two in the girls categories qualified to the quarter final of the ongoing ITF Junior Tennis tournament by winning the second round matches played at the SLTA tennis courts in Greenpath, Colombo.
The three boys to make it the quarters were Vichinthya Nilaweera who got the better of Mayou Zou of
China by two sets to one, Methwan Wijemanne overcoming Kiyugone Kim of Korea by two sets to nil while Gehash Tissera received a walk over after his opponent retired.
In the girls category Dinara de Silva who emerged the Women’s Open singles champion at the SSC
Open Tennis Championship and Gehansa Methnadi coasted to easy wins over Disha Kumar and Vanya
Srivastav both of India by identical winning margins of two sets to nil.
Results:
Boys - Vichinthya Nilaweera (Sri Lanka) beat Mayou Zou (China) 2-1 (3/6, 6/4, 3/1). Methwan Wijemanne (Sri Lanka) beat Kiyugone Kim (Korea) 2-0 (6/2, 6/1). Gehash Tissera (Sri Lanka) prevailed against Ishan Sharabaika rtd.
Girls - Dinara de Silva (Sri Lanka) beat Disha Kumar (India) 2-0 (6/3, 6/1). Gehansa Methnadi
(Sri Lanka) beat Vanya Srivastav (India) 2-0 (6/3, 6/3).
