Deshani Bandara claims triple at Masters’ badminton

Deshani Bandara emerged as the biggest star of the Ceylon Masters International Badminton Championships 2026 by capturing three titles at the tournament held at the Air Sports Complex in Rajagiriya.

She displayed exceptional versatility and consistency throughout the championship, excelling in the women’s doubles and mixed doubles events against a strong international field featuring competitors from 12 countries.

She began her title-winning run by partnering Asangi Kodituwakku to clinch the Women’s Doubles Over-40 championship. 

Deshani then joined forces with Upendra Jayawardane to secure the Mixed Doubles Over-90 Combined Age title overcoming India’s Veeraswamy Narra and Anjali Lotke 18-21, 21-14, 21-12.

The highlight of her campaign was in the Mixed Doubles Over-35 event where she partnered Niluka Karunaratne to beat Hasitha Chanaka and Nadeesha Gayanthi and win the final 21-18, 22-20.
